MnLC Vision
The Minnesota Learning Commons is the pathway to quality online learning.
MnLC Mission
The mission of the Minnesota Learning Commons is to provide access to effective and efficient online learning provided by Minnesota public education partners.
MnLC Goals
The goals of MnLC are in response to direction and expectations of the MnLC Project Work Group. They are consistent with the goals and objectives of the MnLC partners who are Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, University of Minnesota, and Minnesota Department of Education and public K-12 schools. The goals will be accomplished through the collaboration of the faculty, administration and staff of the partners.
The goals for the planning period are:
- Goal One: Enhancing relationships among the MnLC partners.
Outcomes:- Increase coordination and communication of online learning initiatives across the Minnesota P-16 community;
- Share a statewide digital repository;
- Augment online support across systems for information advising and communications;
- Advance recognition of credit for prior learning.
- Goal Two: Delivering expanded access to online programs and services which support the needs of the Minnesota learner.
Outcomes:- Increase the number of courses, programs and services available online;
- Increase the number of open source digital objects available to educators at no cost;
- Increase public education enrollments, retention and graduation;
- Increase access to education for under-served populations.
- Goal Three: Establishing a sustainable organization that increases access to public Minnesota P-16 education.
Outcomes:- Provide increased awareness of online learning;
- Create policies and practices that facilitate seamless online learning programs and services;
- Support development of formal and informal professional development and technical support opportunities for educators;
- Conduct ongoing dialogue with users through studies, analyze information and make recommendations for program and service improvement;
- Facilitate a shared services approach to providing instructional technologies in a cost-savings manner.
